Part 1: Getting your devices connected
Step 1
Plug in and turn on your device.
Step 2
If using an Ethernet-to-serial gateway connect one end of a Serial cable to your device and the other to the gateway. On the other side of the gateway connect one end of a CAT5 Ethernet cable to the gateway and the other to your networked router. (For directions on how to configure your gateway see: Getting the Gateway ready to communicate with Zone Beacon.)
Step 3
Make sure your router can communicate with the WiFi network that the iOS / Android device will be on.
Part 2: Getting the Gateway ready communicate with Zone Beacon

Step 1
Open the Windows Wiznet Configuration tool.
Step 2
Click the Search button at the bottom of the window to show all connected gateways.
Step 3
On the Network tab chose Static IP and enter in the IP address for this gateway, the port number of this gateway, the subnet mask, the gateway IP, and if using this gateway outside the network the DNS information.(For help see: What should I enter in my network settings for the gateway?)
Step 4
On the Serial tab set the proper values for your gateway to communicate with your device.(For help see: What should I enter in my serial settings for the gateway?)
Step 5
Press the Setting button at the bottom of the screen to send all of your changes over to the gateway.
Part 3: Setting up your first Zone from start to finish in the app
Step 1
Open up the Zone Beacon application.
Step 2
Set up your gateway according to the settings from part 2.
Step 3
Hit the orange "+" button, then select "Add Command to ..."
Step 4
Leave the spinner on "Single MCP - Load/Relay" to specify that we want to turn a light off or on, then enter a name for the command such as "Family Room Command", then put in the load number (ie: 1).
Step 5
Tap the checkmark in the bottom right corner to save the command.
Step 6
Tap the "+" button at the bottom of the application and select "Add Button to ..."
Step 7
Work through the same process as above, this time selecting the new command from the list. This is saying that whenever this "button" is clicked, turn this light on or off, just like a wall switch. A "Button" is a collection of "Commands".
Step 8
Save the button, then tap the "+" button on the main screen one more time and select "Add Zone to ..."
Step 9
Similar to above, add the zone name, then the button. A "Zone" is a collection of "Buttons".
